Ouch

I’ve just started back at the gym, for the first time since London. It hurts. Badly.

The other side

Well, I’ve finally “switched”.

This is my first blog entry on my brand new 15″ Powerbook 1.6. Very happy so far. Given that I’ve never even played with a Mac before (apart from a few minutes in a shop every now and then), I’ve found the user interface to be amazingly easy to pick up. I had a network connection set up in about 30 seconds, and ITunes ripping tracks in none whatsoever.

I still love my Vaio from the point of view of its size and weight, but OS X kicks XP’s UI ass (even if some of the conventions take a little getting used to). For example, I find the 2 fingered trackpad scrolling somewhat different to what I’m used to but still easy to use. The delete key is actually a backspace (anybody know how to delete fowards?), and ctrl-left jumps to home instead of one word back, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

Next step is to install an IM client and find where they hid all the command line tools…
